Methodology
PP tiles, or polypropylene interlocking tiles, install via a dry-lay system over a flat, clean base without adhesives, ideal for sports courts, playgrounds or gyms due to quick setup and easy maintenance.
Surface Preparation: Ensure the substrate (concrete, asphalt or compacted gravel) is level, dry, clean and free of protrusions, cracks or debris for uniform stress distribution. Repair uneven areas and sweep thoroughly; allow tiles to acclimate on-site for 24-48 hours if temperature varies.
Layout Planning: Mark court lines or playground boundaries per design, choosing corner-start (upper left as base point, laying rightward) or center-point method (intersect mid-length and mid-width lines). Plan for 3/4-inch expansion gaps at walls or edges, and stagger seams like brickwork for stability.
Tile Installation: Start at one corner with tabs/pegs facing outward, lay tiles in numerical order per layout diagram, aligning connectors and snapping together by stepping on seams or using a rubber mallet. Continue row-by-row or outward from center, visually checking alignment and adjusting for deviations..
Finishing Touches: Cut edge/border tiles with a jigsaw for obstacles, posts or lines, then secure with optional side strips or ramps. Add painted lines/logos with polypropylene-specific paint if needed, and inspect for firmness across the surface.
